Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the party workers at the BJP Headquarters here that it was extremely important to project the democratic nature of India to the world in a better way and added that neither the Election Commission nor any political party has been able to do it.

"There is no place in the world where elections take place in such a grand scale and this fact has to come in front of the whole world. We have not been able to project the democratic nature of elections that takes place in the country in a proper way, to the world. Neither has the Election Commission nor the political parties have been able to do it," said Modi, while addressing party workers at BJP headquarters.

"People should know that democracy is in the nature, in the DNA of the country, which they are still unaware of. But I believe that in the coming days, the world will get to know it. If we document the elections that took place this time and show it in front of the world, they will get to know how democratic our country is," he said.

"If there was no common thought process in the country, we would have not got a clear majority. This shows that the common man has an understanding of the political scenario of the country," he added.

He further said that this was the first time when people had got over the boundaries of caste, religion, and class and voted for the BJP. "This is the first such elections that people have got over caste class religion and voted in a clear majority," said Modi.

"I remember when we had invited Atal ji (former prime minister) to Ashoka road, when he had become the PM, . I cannot imagine myself to be standing at the same position today, and getting the same amount of respect from you all. But it is extremely important for a person to stick to his roots," he said.

He also said that he had a lot of good and memorable experiences of the BJP headquarters over the years. "I have many and memorable experiences of the BJP headquarters. I remember being here as a party worker and I am thankful to the party workers present here as they are the ones who work the hardest for the party," said Modi.

"People have chosen us with a new hope and with a lot of expectations and we need to live up to their expectations. The trust of the people should not be broken," he added.
