Social activist and former senior police officer Kiran Bedi on Saturday said that till the time there is no acceptance of the bad situation, change cannot be brought about.
Kiran Bedi told ANI, "In order to better the situation, one has to first accept the truth that the situation is bad. Till the time one does not accepts it, be it the DGM, Chief Minister or the leader of any political party, nothing can be done. By just passing a statement that our situation is still better than the rest of the states is not going to help."
"Improving the situation is still secondary, accepting it comes first. Whenever governance breaks down, it takes along police with it. Policing is very badly mixed with political interferences. It has casteism, vacancy, insecurity, no training of modernization of principles and most of all the absence of faith. When all the basics are broken how can change take place?" she added.
Talking about improving the law and order situation in the country she said, "It is not only about Uttar Pradesh but the law and order situation in general. Improving the situation is no rocket science. It starts with leadership, law, words. Only then one will say in the speech that yes, the situation is bad; whatever these boys are doing towards women society is completely wrong."
