Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Friday condemned the lynching of a 23-year-old student of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, over alleged blasphemy.
The Dawn quoted Khan, as saying in a tweet, "I am in touch with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General since last night on condemnable lynching of student in Mardan."
He added, "Law of the jungle can't prevail," and "firm action is necessary."
Student Mashal was killed and another student, Abdullah, was seriously injured by a vigilante mob for allegedly "publishing blasphemous content online", local police had said.
The incident occurred within the university premises. The campus was shut down following the incident.
So far, at least 45 people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
