Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has criticised the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for giving a clean chit to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in a money laundering case.

In a statement released yesterday, Khan expressed concern over some recent decisions of the NAB and appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to intervene.

"If NAB and other offices had been doing their job today, money laundering would have stopped completely. NAB has badly failed to fulfil its job. Initially, NAB included Mr Dar's name in 179 cases of corruption and submitted the list in the Supreme Court," Dawn quoted him as saying.

He demanded that NAB should inform that what kind of steps it took during the last 15 years to prove the case or it just wasted money from the exchequer.

"It is not understandable that how a case, which is already being heard in the court, can be closed. There is already unrest in the country because of Panama Papers leaks. Giving a clean chit to Ishaq Dar should be quite embarrassing for NAB," he added.

The NAB gave a clean chit to Dar in over Rs130 billion corruption case after 15-year investigation.
