Nepal's Health Minister Khagaraj Adhikari on Tuesday termed the inauguration of an eight-storey trauma centre here by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Sushil Koirala as a 'moment of pleasure' for both nations.
"It is our very important event. It was started before 19 years and now we are going to inaugurate this trauma centre by both Prime Ministers. I hope that the Government of India will do completion as soon as possible. We are very happy and this is our very pleasure moment," Adhikari told ANI here.
"Even though in Nepal we have no trauma centre, it will be located in central region of Nepal. Most of the rural people will come here and they will benefit from this trauma centre," he added.
MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin earlier in the day tweeted, "India extends a healing hand for the trauma stricken in Nepal. PM @narendramodi and PM Koirala inaugurate Trauma Centre."
According to reports, the 200-bedded trauma centre will have 150 beds in the trauma ward, six operation theatres, 14 ICUs and eight resuscitation rooms. It was meant to start operations in 2009, but has faced a long delay.
