Congress leader Manish Tewari on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the recent instances of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the International Border, saying present situation is not in control of the present situation which has moved from the sublime to the ridiculous.

"It obviously goes on to show that the Central Government and the Prime Minister controls nothing because you sign an agreement or you issue a joint statement with the Prime Minister of Pakistan in Ufa and it turns out to be your biggest goof up because even before the ink is dried on it you have Pakistan literally rubbishing that statement at the level of Dartaj Ajiz, who is their National Security Advisor and who was supposed by Pakistan's Principal Interlocutor," said Tewari while responding to a poser on Prime Minister Modi's present visit to Jammu which takes place just days after the ceasefire violations.

"Then you have the Pakistan Army continuously firing on the International Border and the Line of Control clearly showing that they do not support the agreement or the joint statement that has been signed. And the Prime Minister goes to Jammu and he does not have even a word, a substantive word to utter about it," he added.

Tewari further said the repeated instances of waving of Pakistani and ISIS flags in Srinagar reflects that the ruling BJP-PDP Government is trying to incite a situation which would only work to Islamabad's benefits, adding that the latest developments displays a very dangerous portrait.

"It goes on to show that the BJP-PDP Government is not in control of the situation or it is deliberately for reasons best known to it are trying to incite a situation which would only work to Pakistan's benefits," Tewari told ANI here.

"The fact is that if Pakistani and ISIS flags are repeatedly waved in Jammu and Kashmir or rather are waved in Srinagar then it begs a question as to why this government is not acting, is it incompetent to act, does it lack the political will to act or is there a larger design and play because the goof-up in Ufa clearly demonstrates that the NDA Government from a position that terror and talks cannot go hand in hand has now put India and Pakistan in the same bracket as far as terror is considered," he added.

Pakistani and ISIS flags were reportedly waved on Friday in Srinagar after the Juma-tul-Wida namaz, which is held on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan.

The city also witnessed a clash between police and protesters, where the former resorted to tear gas shelling in order to disperse the agitators.
