India on Sunday won the toss and elected to bowl in the first ODI in the five match series against New Zealand in Dharamsala today.

This is India's 900th ODI and the men in blue will be looking to thump the Kiwi's in a similar manner to their recent Test series victory.

Meanwhile, India saw a debutant in Hardik Pandya, who was presented his ODI cap by Kapil Dev ahead of his match today.

Speaking after winning the toss, Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni said that, "We're looking at resting players at the right time, considering we have 13 Tests. It gives us an opportunity to test some of the other guys. It's good to be back in the blues. We don't have too many ODIs, so have to make the most of it."

The Kiwis, on the other hand have rested Trent Boult and Matt Henry for the match and Mandeep Singh, Jayant Yadav and Dhawal Kulkarni will be missing from the Indian side.
