Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has been appointed to join the board of Starbucks.
Nadella has been nominated along with President and CEO of Sam's Club Rosalind Brewer and Executive Chairman of the LEGO Brand Group J rgen Vig Knudstorp, thereby increasing the count of people in the Board of Directors to 14.
Nadella was born in Hyderabad, India and became CEO at Microsoft in February 2014. He said he was honoured to be appointed as one of the Board members.
He also said that he has always admired Starbucks' focus and deep passion for its customers and the communities it does business in and that he hopes his years of experience in the technology industry will be of value to the company.
Starbucks, on their part, praised Nadella and said he was put forward for his invaluable insight in international operations and distribution and his potential to strengthen the company's tech focus.
The election requires approval from the company shareholders. Their meeting is scheduled to take place on March 22.
