Chief Economic Advisor Dr Arvind Subramanian on Tuesday said that New Delhi can learn certain things from Beijing, while noting that India has to find a solution within a democratic framework.
"I think there are certain things we need to learn from China but some things are very different. We have a democratic system so we have to find a solution within the context of democracy. The one big lesson we need to learn from China is how the state should provide essential services like health, education and infrastructure. We must also learn how to create manufacturing jobs and so on," Subramanian said.
Prime Minister Modi will be in China on a three-day official visit starting May 14.
