Canada Minister of International Trade Ed Fast, on a visit to New Delhi, has looked to further strengthen his nation's economic partnership with India.

Meeting with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman, Fast discussed increased investments, an expanded market access and the Canada-India Economic Partnership Agreement in order to boost the partnership between New Delhi and Ottawa.

"Our government's priority is to create jobs and opportunities and to help Canadian businesses, especially our small and medium-sized enterprises, succeed abroad. Canada and India enjoy a strong and rich partnership, and we will continue to work with India to facilitate Canadian companies' ability to capitalize on the opportunities in India's fast-growing and expanding market, benefiting all Canadians," Fast said.

India is Canada's largest trading partner in South Asia, with Canadian exports to India reaching USD 3.1 billion in 2014.

This is Fast's fourth trade mission to India and the second in six months.
