Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India and China together hold the potential to help the world with the problems that it faces.

"China and India together hold the potential to help the world with the problems it faces. The world is watching as India and China together are standing up to give a new hope to the world," Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the Indian community reception in Shanghai.

"It seems there is a mini-India right here, in front of me in Shanghai. The respect that you have given me, it wasn't for me but for the 125 crore people of India," he added.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed his gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for welcoming the Indian delegation in his hometown Xi'an.

"The world is seeing this visit very closely. The President of China welcomed another leader in a place outside Beijing," he added.

The Prime Minister was on the final leg of his visit to China.
