India defeat South Korea in Hockey Champions Trophy, keep final's hope alive

The Indian men's hockey team kept their hopes alive of making it to the finals of the Champions Trophy tournament, defeating South Korea 2-1 in their thrilling pool encounter here on Tuesday.

Skipper S.V Sunil opened the account for the men in blue in the 39th minute.

However, it was Nikkin Thimmaiah's splendid goal in the 57th minute, immediately after Juhun Kim scored the equaliser for Korea, which won them the game.

Registering their second win of the tournament, India have now moved to the second in the standings, with seven points, behind leaders Australia - their next opposition whom they will be facing on Thursday.

 

With the defeat, South Korea are out of the tournament.
