India has drawn their first Test against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, and thus extended the hosts winless run in this format to nine matches.
On the fifth and final day of the match, India were in a spot of bother at one stage, when they were reduced to 184-6, a lead of just 145 runs over England, but debutant Stuart Binny played a match-saving knock of 78, and in partnerships with Ravindra jadeja (31) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (63 not out), helped the visitors to reach 391-9 declared, 252 in front, before play was called off.
The game turned comical when England skipper Alastair Cook claimed his first Test wicket by having Ishant Sharma caught down the leg side before wheeling off in celebration, reports the BBC.
The scores at the end of the match were India 457 and 391 for nine declared, and England 496.
England's run without a win - dating back to the draw at The Oval in the final Ashes Test in August 2013 - is their longest since 1992-93, while India have now gone 15 away Tests without victory.
India and England now move to Lord's to play the second test between July 17 and July 21.
