Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday claimed that India has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies in the world under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership at the Centre in the last three years.

He asserted that nobody has in the last three years levelled charges of corruption against the BJP-led government at the Centre.

"India has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. And during these three years, there is no allegation on the Centre related to corruption," Singh claimed during a press conference.

Taking on the critics of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation, the Home Minister said that people made assertions that India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will decline.

"The people were guessing that India's GDP will decline because of the GST and demonetisation but we proved this wrong," he added while expressing hope that the GDP rate would increase in the coming years.

President Pranab Mukherjee earlier on Thursday gave his nod to four supporting legislations related to Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill.

Earlier this month, the Rajya Sabha passed four GST Bills without amendments setting the stage for the government for the launch on July 1.

The four bills passed on April 6 - the Central GST bill, the Integrated GST bill, the Union Territories GST Bill and the compensation law - have already been cleared by the Lok Sabha, where the government enjoys majority.
