Affirming support to India on countering terrorism, Israel President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday said both nations are threatened by terror because they uphold the values of freedom.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you have truly made us feel at home in your beautiful country. Israel and India are threatened by terror because we uphold the values of freedom. Terror is terror is terror is terror," Rivlin said in a joint statement.

"Israel is ready to answer the Prime Minister's call - we are ready to 'Make in India' and Make with India. Israeli companies can tie up with Indian flagship programmes like 'Make in India'," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his part said terrorism is a global challenge and has no boundaries.

"And regrettably, one of the countries of its origin is in India's neighbourhood," he said in an apparent reference to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister said the failure to act and silence of speech only encourages terrorists.

Prime Minister Modi said India is grateful to Israel for its clear support to India's permanent candidature in a reformed UN Security Council.

He said the two countries agreed to promote educational exchanges as well as enhancing people to people contacts through greater cultural and tourism linkages.

India and Israel today inked two agreements in the field of water resources management and agriculture. The agreements were signed following delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Modi and the visiting Israeli President.

India and Israel have excellent relations in the areas of economy and commerce, science and technology, research and innovation, culture, tourism, and education.
