India names World Cup probable list, five big names dropped

The national selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday named its 30-member probable squad for the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

On the recommendation of the selection committee, the board has dropped senior players Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh, all of whom were part of the 2011 World Cup winning squad.

The emphasis was on selecting young talent.

The other players who have been dropped include Yusuf Pathan, Piyush Chawla and Ashish Nehra.

The players who have benefitted the most are Kedar Jadhav, Manoj Tiwary, Manish Pandey and Parvez Rasool who have been rewarded for their performances in the domestic circuit.

 

Meanwhile, Axar Patel, Dhawal Kulkarni and Stuart Binny have profited by their strong performances in the chances they got in the national colours.

The squad is as follows:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Robin Uthappa, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, Manoj Tiwary, Manish Pandey, Wriddhiman Saha, Sanju Samson, R Ashwin, Parvez Rasool, Karn Sharma, Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, Dhawal Kulkarni, Stuart Binny, Mohit Sharma, Ashoke Dinda, Kuldeep Yadav and Murali Vijay.
