India has confirmed that it has opened the Attari check post to facilitate the movement of duty free exportable items from Afghanistan under the South Asia Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement.
External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said India also allows Afghan trucks carrying their export products to directly unload at its Integrated Check Post in Attari.
He said this is being done to give a fillip to Afghan exports to India and to reduce the transaction costs of Afghan exporters.
