Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap suffered a major blow as he crashed out of the China Masters Grand Prix Gold after going down against Qiao Bin of China in the men's singles event here on Thursday.

After losing the first game, Kashyap bounced back in the second before again going down to slump to a 10-21, 22-20, 13-21 defeat against third-seed Bin in a thrilling last-16 clash that lasted one hour and 16 minutes.

The tournament was Kashyap's return to competitive badminton after recovering from a shoulder injury which he sustained during a Premier League in January.

Harsheel Dani, the other Indian in the fray, also bowed out of the tournament after suffering a 17-21, 18-21 defeat against China's Sun Feixiang in their pre-quarterfinal clash.

With this, India's challenge in the tournament also came to an end.
