Condemning the attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy by militants, defence experts have suggested that India needs to modify its defensive strategy, adding that Pakistan needs to be responded in kind if they target India in such a manner.
Speaking to ANI here, Defence Expert, Major General (Retd.) P.K. Sehgal said, "This is virtually a daily or an alternate day attack and it is becoming a very dangerous escalation. Purely defensive strategy that we adopted needs to be immediately modified, adding that we got to make Pakistan pay a very heavy price."
Sehgal further stated we should deal severely and vigorously with those who instigate such people in our country.
"Those instigating such people with in the country should be held accountable and now need to be dealt very severely. The young boys and girls of Kashmir who are standing by these gentlemen also need to be taken to task," Sehgal said.
Hailing former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's reaction on convoy attack, defence expert said, "I am very glad that atleast he came up very strongly condemning that attack."
Echoing similar opinion, Defence expert Capt. (Retd.) Anil Gaur said that the militant group wants to make their presence felt as the separatist groups have called for a boycott of the upcoming bypoll in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan does not want that election should take place and the people get into a sense of normalcy. Due to which these people are instructed to carry out such attacks," Gaur added.
