India's PC market dipped by19.9 percent in Q4 in absence of govt. orders

India's PC market is reported to have plummeted by 19.9 percent due to the absence of any government orders in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The combined desk-based and mobile PC market in India totaled around1.96 million units, reporting a decrease of 19.9 percent over the same period last year.

According to the Enterprise Innovation, HP remained the top brand with a market share of 21.3 percent, up by 3 percent compared to the last quarter in 2012. However, second placer Dell, grew its market share from 11.2 percent in 2012 to 18.6 percent in 2013, mainly due to the strong notebook sales, which it said increased 49 percent year over year.

 

The principal research analyst at Gartner Vishal Tripathi said that consumers accounted for 49 percent of total PC sales in the fourth quarter of 2013.
