India has sailed into the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 tournament following an eight-wicket victory over hosts Bangladesh in Dhaka on Friday.

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who was the Man of the Match in both the previous wins against Pakistan and the West Indies, continued his impressive form with 3-26 as Bangladesh was restricted to 7-138 in the Group Two match of the Super-10s.

According to News.com.au, with the help of a 100-run stand for the second wicket by Rohit Sharma (56) and Virat Kohli (57 not out), India surpassed the modest target with nine deliveries to spare to record its third successive win and book a semi-final berth even before their last group match against Australia on Sunday.

The report mentioned that Australia needs several results to go its way in order to sneak into the semi-finals after two defeats so far while Pakistan and the West Indies will battle for the second semi-final spot from the group barring any major upsets in the last two round of matches.
