Attacking Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that India will not develop by just lengthy speeches and slogans like 'India Shining' and Gujarat 'Model'.

Addressing a rally in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, Rahul accused the BJP of not working for the welfare of tribals, poor and farmers, and said that they are just giving slogans to woo the people with false dreams.

"With long speeches and slogans like 'India Shining' and 'Gujarat Model' will not help the country to progress further on course of development. The country will only go ahead when the leaders of the country will feel the pain of the tribals, the poor and the weaker section of the society," said Rahul.

Rahul also highlighted the issues pertaining to welfare of tribals, poor and farmers as he continued his scathing attack, and said the people of the state still do not have access to schools, colleges and proper healthcare.

He added the people of the state are waiting for the Congress to form government as its policies are in the interest of the poor and tribals.
