Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Friday said India should deal firmly with the repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan. He was reacting to the recent ceasefire violation in the Poonch sector of Jammu that took place on Thursday night.

"It is important to deal with Pakistan with firm hands. If it is not dealt with firm hands, then Pakistan won't change its attitude,"Alvi told ANI.

"It seems it (ceasefire violation) has become very common. Pakistan violates ceasefire on border and our Government does not do anything," he added.

"Alvi said India's foreign policy with regard to Pakistan is not fixed.

"The Government is unable to understand what kind of policy should be made with regard to Pakistan. This is unfortunate," he said.

The ceasefire violation took place after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing.

Indian troops responded appropriately. No damage or loss of life was reported.
