India Test cricket team fell to the sixth place in the ICC Test Team Rankings as Pakistan vaulted into third position following the conclusion of their series against Australia in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

This is Pakistan's best Test ranking in seven years. They defeated Australia for their first series win against them in 20 years and have leapfrogged England, Sri Lanka and India into third position after the feat earned them seven ratings points.

This is Pakistan's best Test rankings since they claimed third position in January 2007 following the series in South Africa, which the home side won 2-1, Sport24 reported.

In contrast, Australia have retained second position on the Test table, but, after conceding six ratings points, the gap with number one ranked South Africa has opened to seven ratings points.

Pakistan would now take on New Zealand in a three-Test series, which starts on November 9 in Abu Dhabi, while Australia will lock horns with India in a four-Test series, which begins in Brisbane on December 4, the report added.
