The World Bank VP, South Asia, Annette Dixon, on Tuesday said that the World Bank expects India to continue to make good progress in the coming years.
Talking exclusively to ANI, Dixon said, "If we see continued leadership and coordination, we would expect India to continue to make good progress in coming years."
She also added that India's improvement is the highest amount of improvement across any region and the world.
"It's highest amount of improvement across region and world. India has jumped 30 places in its ranking compared to other countries," concluded Dixon.
India climbed 30 positions to rank 100th amongst 190 countries, in the 'Ease of Doing Business' report by the World Bank.
"With the eight reforms enforced in the system, India made paying taxes easier by requiring that payments be made electronically to the Employees Provident Fund and introducing a set of administrative measures easing compliance with corporate income tax," said a World Bank statement.
The report also mentioned the substantive changes implemented by the Indian Government in 2016-17 that included the merging of applications for the Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Tax Account Number (TAN) for starting a new business.
