India tops Japan, China and all others from Asia-Pacific at UN Elections

Indian candidate Dr Aniruddha Rajput topped the Asia-Pacific group for election in the UN General Assembly to the International Law Commission.

He came ahead of nine other candidates in 10-person contest by a large margin.

Rajput got 160 votes. Next placed Japan got 148, followed by Jordan 146, China 146, South Korea 136, Qatar 128 and Vietnam 120 votes.

Candidates from Indonesia, Malaysia and Iran lost.
