India, Vietnam have infinite opportunities of mutual co-operation: President Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee has exuded confidence that the strategic partnership between India and Vietnam will touch new heights as the two countries have infinite opportunities of mutual co-operation.

President Mukherjee, who is in Ho Chi Minh city on the concluding day of his four-day state visit to Vietnam, said both countries have been continuously engaged in enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest, resulting in several programmes and initiatives in a wide range of interests.

The President said, "The agreements signed during the visit will take the relationship to a new level, benefiting people on the two sides."

President Mukherjee also held talks with the Secretary of the Communist Party in the historic city, Le Thanh Hai.

 

Complimenting the Vietnamese for their achievement for economic reverberation, he stressed on the need for expanding newer areas of mutual co-operation.

India and Vietnam also discussed securing sea lanes as part of counter terror and transnational crimes with an aim to preserve nautical trade between the two countries.

Secretary (East) in the External Affairs Ministry Anil Wadhwa said, "It was discussed at length. The President will return home on Wednesday afternoon.

Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will lead a high-level delegation to India next month.
