India wins Miss Asia 2015 title

Miss India Kanika Kapoor was on Tuesday crowned Miss Asia 2015 in a competition held in Kochi, Kerala.

Among the participants from 12 countries, Miss Philippines, Alphe Marie Nathani, was adjudged the first runner-up and Miss Azerbaijan, Jailla Gulieva, the second runner-up.

Kapoor, who was ecstatic after her win, thanked the organizers for the opportunity.

"I would like to do something that inspires little girls to achieve something. Now that I have achieved my dream, I think I am the best role model to inspire them. I have always been fond of acting and I have already done one movie in Telugu. Let's see what happens in the future," said Kapoor, adding that her parents would be proud of her feat.

 

She received half a million rupees as prize money for the title.

The participating countries included Bahrain, Bhutan, China, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tibet, Turkmenistan, the UAE and Uzbekistan.
