The Australian media has claimed that Michael Clarke's brilliant record with the bat since taking over the captaincy has also coincided with a new bat deal.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Spartan Sports, who signed up Clarke when he split from long-time backer Slazenger, are well aware though of just what he's done since he began sporting their stickers.

Owner Kunal Sharma did the sums and announced he had scored 2108 runs at an average of 66 since Spartan took him on, the report said.

Clarke has recently also got into trouble for an abuse directed at England bowler James Anderson and may be fined 20 percent of his match fee by the ICC.
