The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced that it will present the Test Championship mace to Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli at the Holkar Stadium in Indore after the end of the third and final Test of the three-match series against New Zealand.
On behalf of the ICC, former Indian captain and ICC Cricket Hall of Fame Sunil Gavaskar will make the presentation immediately after the awards ceremony for the series.
India is assured of the top ranking, but will officially overtake Pakistan at the top of the table only when the rankings are updated at the end of the series.
The Kohli-led team reclaimed the No.1 spot following their comprehensive 178 runs win in the second Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Earlier, a washout in the fourth Test at Port of Spain against the West Indies had cost India the top spot by just one point. It denied them the opportunity to defend their numero one ranking acquired from Australia earlier.

With yet another powerful show, India are now firmly on top of the table and set to consolidate their position further. After their win in the second Test, India have 113 rating points and a win in the third Test will add two more, taking their tally to 115.
There will be no immediate change in India's reign at the top even if Pakistan and Australia win their respective bilateral Test series against the West Indies and South Africa respectively.
