The Indian Coast Guard has confirmed taking custody of 10 Sri Lankan fishermen and their two boats, on charges of violating India's territorial waters.

They were fishing 50 nautical miles south-east of Nagapattinam which is four nautical miles within Indian waters from the Indo-Sri Lankan International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

The boats along with 10 crew members were escorted to Karaikal and were handed over to Coastal Security Group (CSG) Nagapattinam today.
