The Indian cricket team toiled hard in Cardiff on Monday, a day before their practice match against Australia, and three days before their Champions Trophy encounter against South Africa.

The team has already played and won one practice match against Sri Lanka, even as it continues to be under the spot-fixing cloud of the money-spinning Indian Premier League (IPL), which ended on May 26.

The Champions trophy is the second biggest one-day tournament played between all Test playing nations.

Two groups, with four teams each, participate in a round-robin format in the first round. Thereafter, the top two teams from each group qualify for the semi-final.

India is placed in Group B, along with South Africa, Pakistan and the West Indies.

The Indian team opens the tournament on June 6 against South Africa.

The final will be played on June 23.
