The Indian women's junior hockey team crashed out of the 7th Asia Cup after suffering a 2-3 defeat in penalty shootout against Japan in the nail-biting semifinal thriller at Changzhou, China on Saturday.

The match went into the shootout after both sides were levelled 2-2 at full time. Deep Grace Ekka and Renuka Yadav were the goalscorers for the Indian eves.

Japan's Yukari Mano and Ayane Hirahara scored for their side to force a penalty shootout.

Japan then held their nerve to score in their final attempt to set up a summit clash against China on Sunday.

Meanwhile, India will take on Korea for the third-place on Sunday.
