Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) have given a befitting reply to Pakistan's ceasefire violations.

"If anyone is violating ceasefire, it is Pakistan. Our army and Border Security Force have given a befitting reply to them. They have already lost the battle," said Singh at a rally here.

"The people are asking why the Prime Minster is silent over this issue, but he doesn't need to give an answer, as our forces are already giving Pakistan a befitting reply," he added.

Singh promised that the BJP's policies would prove to be beneficial for the farmers of Maharashtra and requested them to make his party win by a majority in the state.

"I know you put in a lot of effort in growing crops and that you don't get the benefits that you deserve, but I assure you that we will make policies which will be beneficial for farmers. The day you will open your bank account, your insurance worth Rs one lakh will be confirmed," the Home Minister said.

Elections for the 288-member Maharashtra State Assembly will be held on October 15, and the counting of the votes will take place on October 19.
