An Indian-origin chartered accountant in Australia reportedly became victim of a 'racist' email after he contacted a bedding company to make a complaint for a late delivery.

Soumen Dutta contacted The Sleeping Giant when his trundle bed hadn't arrived after eight weeks, but instead he received a derogatory email from a manager at the store accidentally.

According to news.com.au, the email was sent by Dawn, store manager at The Sleeping Giant Auburn, who had managed the store for 15 years, and was intended for a colleague.

However, the email, in which Dutta was described as 'full of s***t' and a 'rude pig,' landed in the distressed customer's inbox and mentioned how the manager was 'sick of them' and that 'they all come from the one country, which someone should sink into the ocean,' referring to Dutta's Indian roots.

A flabbergasted Dutta contacted the company, but wasn't satisfied with the verbal apology and headed to make a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission, after whose intervention, General Manager of the company, Steve Borg, issued a written apology.

Borg's written apology assured Dutta that he contacted Dawn and she was "totally apologetic of the email" and offered a personal apology and requested to keep the issue confidential from other employees.

Dutta, however, wants more than apology and know how the bedding company has dealt with Dawn and what the compensation policy would be for the abuse he received.

He further said that he has been offered a refund of 300 dollars, but he now wants that stronger action should be taken.

The report said that Dutta has since received his bed, but said it arrived broken and he is still waiting for it to be fixed.
