Indian PM Modi leads 'TIME's Person of the year' readers' poll with 16.2 percent votes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held on to the top spot in the readers' poll for the "TIME's Person of the Year" with 16.2 percent votes as voting closed for the category.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader occupied office in May after winning by a clear mandate for the first time in 25 years, reported The Express Tribune.

The Ferguson protesters, who occupied streets to protest against the fatal shooting of black teenager, Michael Brown, trailed behind at 9.3 percent votes while Hong Kong pro-democracy protest teenage student leader, Joshua Wong, followed closely with seven percent votes. Nobel laureate and child activist Malala Yousafzai stood fourth on the list with 4.9 percent votes.
