A report has said that the human remains found during the maritime salvage operation to rescue Costa Concordia's remains may be Indian waiter, Russel Rebello, the last of the 32 victims to be recovered from the wreck of the cruise ship that drowned in January 2012.

The body was recovered from the cabin and was handed to the authorities for identification, reported the BBC.

This is the third time local officials have claimed that Rebello's remains might have been found. Tests on the other two occasions determined that the remains were not his.

Rebello's brother, Kevin, posted on Facebook that he believed his brother will now be coming home to India.

The Costa Concordia hit a reef off the Italian island of Giglio two years ago and capsized, killing 32 people. It was raised from the sea in July and towed to Genoa to be scrapped.
