A Titanic survivor's indignant letter has fetched nearly 12,000 dollars at an auction by Boston auction house RR Auction.
Lady Lucy Duff-Gordon's letter to a friend, written just weeks after the Titanic sank, seems to indicate that she and her husband, Sir Cosmo Duff-Gordon, didn't receive such a warm welcome home after their rescue, CNN reported.
Lucy and her husband Cosmo, who were rescued from the sinking ship on April 15, 1912, on lifeboat 1, that despite having the capacity to carry 40 people, only had 12 passengers, were alleged to have bribed the crew in order not to go back to rescue other survivors.
A cup and saucer from the Titanic sold for 13,750 dollars at the auction.
