A major security breach was reported in IndiGo flight scheduled from Mumbai to Chandigarh on Friday after a passenger opened the safety door right before the flight was supposed to take off.

As a result, the take off was put on halt and the flight delayed. IndiGo staff on board immediately observed this and alerted the Captain-in-Command.

The flight has been identified as flight 6E 4134 and the passenger was handed over to security staff and CISF at Mumbai airport. The airlines also confirmed that they have lodged a FIR against the passenger and have reported the matter to local authorities.

"The passenger who opened the emergency exit door of the aircraft 6E 4134, was handed over to the security staff and the CISF at the Mumbai airport," the Indigo authority said.

"Any untoward behaviour which compromises the safety of our passengers, crew or the aircraft is of a serious concern to us", it added.

"IndiGo has filed FIR against the passenger. This matter is now with the local authorities. We regret the inconvenience caused to other passengers on board", they added.
