ANI Chennai [India]

A major mishap was averted at Chennai Airport after an IndiGo flight (6E 7124) operating on Rajahmundry-Chennai route developed a technical problem during the final approach while landing at the Chennai airport last evening.

There were 51 members onboard including 47 passengers. No injuries were reported.

The flight was scheduled to land in Chennai at 5:45 pm but the plane's second engine failed at the time of the landing, causing the pilot to declare an emergency. The plane finally landed at 6:26 pm.

On Monday, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered for an investigation.

The incident comes nearly three weeks after Indigo airlines' system was down for 90 minutes across all airports, causing inconvenience to the passengers.
