Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dr. M Veerappa Moily informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply on Tuesday that Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) will provide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to all feasible areas in Delhi.
Dr. Moily was replying to specific query regarding Kapashera village of Delhi, and he added that IGL's pipeline network laying work is already in progress near Samalkha crossing which is 2 kms from Kapashera village.
Dr. Moily emphasized that IGL is committed to provide PNG connections to all technically feasible areas of Delhi.
The supply of PNG at various locations is dependent on various factors like technical feasibility, availability of digging permission from civic agencies and customer response.
An area is connected to PNG pipelines in terms of safety guidelines of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) and international standards, code and practice for natural gas pipeline.
The areas, whether urban or rural, not meeting safety guidelines are not connected with PNG.
