Indu Sarkar: Madhur Bhandarkar's next movie on 1975 Emergency

Bollywood's critically acclaimed director-producer Madhur Bhandarkar will begin production of his next movie under the name 'Indu Sarkar.'

Sources confirmed that the movie will be based on the Emergency, a 21-month long period from 1975 to 1977, when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi unilaterally had a state of emergency declared across the country.

'Indu Sarkar' will begin shooting this November.

Bhandarkar made his directorial debut with 'Trishakti' in 1999 and went on to direct several critically and commercially successful films.

The Padma Shri awardee is known for his films like 'Traffic Signal,' 'Chandni Bar' and 'Page 3' that won him the National Film Award.

The popular drama film, 'Fashion' in 2008 also garnered him several naccolades including Filmfare Awards nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay.
