West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has been ruled out of the current India tour and the start of the forthcoming New Zealand tour after he suffered a hamstring tear in the first ODI in Kochi.
According to Stuff.co.nz, doctors who examined Gayle said he would need two to four weeks to recover from his injury, which would likely rule him out of at least the first test of the NZ tour.
Gayle, who was run out in the second ball of West Indies innings, was rushed to a local hospital after he hurt himself while making a desperate dive to reach his crease, the report said.
He was carried out of the ground in a stretcher, the report added.
An MRI scan at the hospital found that there was a hamstring tear on his left leg and small blood clot around, the report further said.
The charismatic Gayle is a crucial player for the West Indies, according to the report.
