English pacer Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the ongoing eighth edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) due to a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old, who plays for Hobart Hurricanes, had sustained the injury during his fourth over in his side's practice match against Auckland Aces at Blundstone Arena on Thursday.

The injury is expected to take over eight weeks to get healed, according to an official statement from Hobart Hurricanes.

Hurricanes coach Adam Griffith said that the injury came at a very unfortunate time for Mills as he was bowling well in the tournament.

"This comes at a really unfortunate time for Tymal. He was bowling well and feeling really good as a result of playing cricket throughout the year leading up to the Big Bash season," Griffith said.

Mills also expressed disappointment over the development saying that he is 'beyond gutted.'

"Beyond gutted. Arrived out here in probably the best shape of my career so to go down before the tournament had begun is so disappointing. Backing the boys all the way and will be supporting from back home @HurricanesBBL," Mills tweeted.

The Hurricanes will now seek to fill Mills' place in the squad with an injury replacement player.
