Pakistan pace spearhead Wahab Riaz, who suffered a hairline fracture on his left-hand on the opening day of the second Test in Colombo, has been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Riaz, who was expected to join the national team during the last two ODIs, has been instructed to start the bowling practice from July 24, after his fresh medical report did not clear him.

Pakistan chief selector Haroon Rasheed said that Riaz had no chance to join the team before the fourth ODI hoping the bowler would be fit at least before the start of the two-match T20 series against the Islanders, with the first T20 being scheduled for July 30 after the ODI series ends on July 26, the Dawn reported.

The five-match series is currently poised at 1-1 with the next ODI scheduled on July 19 at Premdasa Stadium in Colombo.
