England fast bowler David Willey has been ruled out of upcoming ODI series against Pakistan due to a hand injury.
The 26-year-old Northamptonshire batsman sustained the injury during a T20 Blast Finals Day when he was struck by a fierce return drive from Mark Stoneman in his second over of the semi-final match against Durham, who lost by four wickets.
Reflecting on the news, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) informed that Willey's X-ray had not excluded a significant injury and, therefore, the left-arm seamer would now undergo further scan and assessement by a consultant.
With Willey's dismissal, Jake Ball has now got a nod to make his ODI debut against Pakistan, ESPNcricinfo reported.
England will play five-match ODI series against Pakistan, starting from August 24 at Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southamptom.
