Men believe that women who have gotten inked - and particularly 'tramp stamps' - are more likely to have sex with them on their first date, according to a study.
The study conducted by France's Universite de Bretagne-Sud, found that men surveyed were likelier to ask a women out if they had a tattoo, but they also believed them to be of a "loose" character, the New York Daily News reported.
In the first leg of the study, 31 men were told to rate 59 females in the order of attraction.
The top 11 female participants were then sent to the beaches of Brittany wearing red bikinis and asked to wear large temporary butterfly tattoos on their lower backs for half of their solo beach trips, while for the other 10 visits, they did not wear the fake tattoos.
Study researchers found that men were likelier to approach the women when they were wearing the fake ink, and took on average much less time to approach them.
The second part of the experiment surveyed 440 men with a median age of 22.3, asking them if they believed they had a chance with them and to have bed them on their first date.
They found that men thought the girls with the butterfly tattoos would agree to a date and it would be much easier to sleep with them later.
The study has been published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior.
