Tech titan Intel on Wednesday launched a new 10 inch tablet, designed specifically for education and built to meet students' needs equipped with a snap-on magnification lens which provides 30 x magnifications, which makes the tablet capable of taking microscopic pictures. The tablet has an in built 'Lab Camera' application, powered by intellisense, with six tools like which lets students carry out scientific concepts.
Another new feature is the 'Temperature Sensor Probe', a wire like device which plugs into the 3mm audio jack, which lets user measure temperature.
Intel's motto with the new product is to move from teacher centric education to student centric education. Director of corporate affairs, Ashutosh Chadha said "In a global economy, creating 21st century success for individual students, communities and nations means giving every student the skill and opportunities to excel".
He added "With a vision to advance excellence in education around the world, intel is directly involved in education programs".
The tablet is ruggedized for rough use and is heat, water, and dust resistance. The tablet can easily take a 70 cm high drop and still work without any issues. For internal safety, it comes with McAfee antivirus.
Developers have made the tablet for students and teachers. The tablets can be synced so that teacher can control students' tablets.

The tablet comes with Intel Atom Z2520 1.2Ghz Dual Core processor, and Anrdoid 4.2 OS, a 5 MP primary and 1.2MP front camera. 2GB RAM, 12 hours of 'active' battery life. The device has several sensors like Accelerometer (G-Sensor), Ambient Light sensor, E-compass etc.
The price of the tablet would fall somewhere between Rs.10,000 to Rs. 11,000. (ANI)
