Asserting that the Sonia Gandhi-led party is now a sinking ship as it lacks leadership, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday alleged that there is an internal fighting going on within the Congress.

"There is an internal fighting going on within the Congress. Every Congress leader wants to fix the other because the Congress lacks leadership. In the entire country as well as the state, the Congress leaders speak in different tones," said BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain.

"However, this is their internal matter. The Bharatiya Janata Party has nothing to do with it," he added while reacting to Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh's demand that Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa should be removed from his post.

The former Punjab chief minister, who met Congress president Sonia Gandhi earlier in the day, demanded Bajwa's removal and said the party cannot win the elections in Punjab under the latter's leadership.

"It is my duty to bring it to the notice of party high command, the Congress president and the vice-president. It is up to them to decide whether they want to win Punjab or not," he added.
