Delhi's Patiala House court on Monday sent S Bhaskaran, Karti Chidambaram's chartered accountant (CA), to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the INX Media money laundering case.
It has been alleged that Karti had illegally taken service charges for getting the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to the INX Media for receiving funds from abroad worth Rs 305 crore in 2007, when his father, P Chidambaram, was the finance minister in the Congress-led UPA Government.
Chidambaram, who is an accused in this alleged money laundering case, had also appealed to the apex court seeking its approval to allow him to travel abroad earlier.
